A Proposal That Arrived by Sea
A sunny morning, an email, a plan
It was a bright, sunny morning when George’s email arrived: he was coming to Santorini with his family, his friends and his soon-to-be fiancée, Amalya — and he needed a place and a team to help him build something unforgettable. That is precisely the request we like best.
Because ΑΙΩΝ stands at the old port itself, we could give the evening an entrance no clifftop venue can: the family crossed the caldera by boat and stepped ashore beside the terrace, the volcano of Nea Kameni behind them, and walked up as the light softened. Then came the candlelit dinner — one table, everyone George loved around it — and the question itself.
She said yes, the terrace erupted, and the celebration ran on beneath the sunset. Guests who preferred dry land had it easy too — the cable car and the walk down from Fira reach us just as gently. The pictures below speak for themselves; we can all agree it is a day George and Amalya will remember for the rest of their lives.
The film
George’s family crossed the caldera by boat to the old port at the venue. The whole proposal — the arrival, the walk up, the table, the yes — was filmed.

Want to arrive by sea too?
An arrival by boat is one of the things our position near the water makes easy — ask us when you plan your proposal or private dinner. The other evenings in this portfolio: Grace & Brennan’s wedding, Scot’s sunset proposal and cocktails, and Ruby’s private dinner in paradise.
