A Santorini Proposal on a Terrace of Your Own
AION (ΑΙΩΝ) is a private marriage-proposal venue on the caldera side of Fira, Santorini. You book the whole terrace for the two of you — no other diners, no crowd — and we tailor the moment with add-ons: fairy lights, candles, flowers, even fireworks. Afterwards, dinner by Chef Iosif of Lomvranos Restaurant. Rates from €500 for an hour, flat all year.

How do proposals work at ΑΙΩΝ?
There is no proposal menu here, and that is deliberate. Every proposal at ΑΙΩΝ is tailor-made: you book the terrace through one of our venue rental packages, tell us how you imagine the moment, and we build it onto the evening as add-ons — fairy lights overhead, candles along the terrace, flowers, and fireworks or fountain fireworks if you want the sky involved. For proposals we use more of the terrace than for any other event, because the first impression is the event: the walk in, the turn, what they see behind you when you kneel.
We are a Santorini family, and this terrace on the caldera side of Fira is ours — set right at the old port (Ormos Firon), unusually close to the water, rather than high on the cliff path. When the ring comes out there is no queue at a railing and no other table beside yours. There is the Aegean, the sunset, and staff who know your cue and will not miss it.

Why a venue and not a viewpoint?
Santorini's famous proposal spots are famous, which is exactly the problem: everyone who read the same list is standing on them at sunset. Booking a venue gives you the space to yourselves without shrinking the view. We wrote about the difference honestly — read what a private proposal rather than a public viewpoint feels like, or weigh all your options in our guide to every proposal spot in Santorini, public spots included.
What can you add to the moment?
The add-ons are simple and real: fairy lights strung above the table, candlelight leading across the terrace, flowers from a single bouquet of red roses to full styling, and — the one couples talk about for years — fireworks over the caldera, or fountain fireworks nearer the table for something softer. Most couples plan everything around the light: the terrace looks straight at the setting sun, and a sunset proposal here needs almost no decoration at all.
Arrival can be part of the story too. Because we sit near sea level, you can walk down through Fira, take the cable car, or arrive by boat at the old port the terrace stands on — one of our couples did exactly that. A yacht cruise before or after the moment is also something we can arrange around your evening.

What happens after the yes?
Champagne and glasses come with every rental, so the toast happens seconds after the answer. Then the evening becomes a dinner: menus at ΑΙΩΝ are created by Chef Iosif, owner of Lomvranos Restaurant, and cooked around the preferences you share with us in advance — à la carte on the night, or pre-arranged so no bill ever interrupts the mood. Golden hour follows, and the terrace, the entrance steps and the caldera path beside the venue give a photographer everything they need. If you want the meal itself to be the disguise, that is its own art form — the dinner proposal page shows how the courses hide the question.

Proposals that really happened here
Scot wrote to us about a month before he and his fiancée-to-be reached the island; his evening became cocktails, music and photographs in the sunset — see Scot's sunset proposal and cocktails.
George came by sea, with family and friends in on the secret, for a candlelit proposal dinner on the terrace — see George's proposal dinner, arrival by boat.
Ruby planned a quiet private dinner, menu and decoration agreed in the weeks before the night — see Ruby's private dinner in paradise.
Some couples arrive with a proposal planner — planning surprises is a profession of its own, and we work alongside them gladly — but the venue side of the evening is always carried by our own staff.

How the terrace gets dressed
Every proposal here is built on the same terrace and then tailored. These are six of the set-ups couples have chosen — white or red, letters or no letters, candles down the floor or just the two chairs and the water.

Choose the shape of your evening
- A private proposal — what no crowds really means
- A sunset proposal — timing the exact minute
- A fireworks proposal — the caldera sky as your backdrop
- Every proposal spot in Santorini — the honest island-wide guide
Then tell us your date. Consultation costs nothing, the terrace starts at €500 for an hour and stays there all year, and rescheduling is free — as of 2026, none of that has changed.
