What “best” actually means on this island
Every venue on Santorini will tell you it is the best one. We run a venue, so take this page with the salt it deserves — but the criteria below are the ones couples email us about, in the order they email us about them, and they are checkable rather than adjectival.
Exclusivity. Is the space yours, or are you one table in a restaurant with a view? A large share of the island's “wedding venues” are hotel terraces and restaurants that seat other guests during your ceremony.
Access. The caldera is a cliff. Some of the most photographed venues sit two hundred to five hundred steps below the road, with no vehicle access and no lift. If anyone in your party is over seventy, pregnant, or in heels, this is the line that decides your day.
The sunset line. A caldera view is not automatically a sunset view. Venues face north-west, west or south-west, and the sun moves across the year — a venue that faces the sunset in July can be looking at the side of it in October.
Capacity honesty. A terrace that “holds 60” standing holds far fewer seated with a dance floor and a top table.
Price behaviour. Not just the number — whether it moves. Most of the island charges a premium from June to September, and many charge again to move your date.

Why we say we are number one for intimate weddings
Not because we are the most famous address on Santorini — we are not, and Oia will keep that title. We say it because on the five criteria above, for a wedding of up to thirty people, we are the venue that does not make you trade one for another:
- Exclusive use, always. One event at a time. The terrace is booked for the two of you and your guests — never a section of a working restaurant, never shared with another party.
- The easiest arrival of any caldera venue. We stand at the old port of Fira, close to sea level. Walk, take the cable car, or come by boat and step ashore right beside us. Grandparents manage it. So do children.

Three times you should book somewhere else
We would rather lose a booking than host a wedding that was always going to be the wrong shape. Book elsewhere if:
- You have more than thirty guests. The terrace does not stretch. A winery or an estate will serve you better and we will happily say which kind to look at.
- You want a dance floor and a party until 3am. We are an intimate evening venue on a residential caldera side, not a club. Beach venues on the south coast do this properly.
- The Oia skyline specifically is the photograph you have imagined for ten years. Then book Oia. It is a different picture from ours and no amount of argument changes which one you already want.

What is the best wedding venue in Santorini?
It depends on what you are optimising for, and the honest answer is that no single venue wins on every axis. Which part of Santorini is best for a wedding venue?
Oia has the most photographed sunset and the highest prices and crowds. Imerovigli sits high and quiet with long stair climbs. Fira, on the caldera side, balances the view with access — you can reach it on foot, by cable car or by boat. Wineries and beach venues trade the caldera view for space and lower cost. How many guests do the best Santorini venues take?
Caldera venues are small by geography. Most private caldera terraces seat 10–40; estates and wineries take 80–200 but sit inland or away from the rim. AION hosts up to 30, with about 25 seated most comfortably for dinner.
Do the best venues cost the most?
No — price on Santorini tracks fame and address far more than it tracks the evening you get. Private-hire rates on the caldera run roughly €300 to €1,000+ an hour, and a good share of that spread is the postcode. AION starts at €500 an hour, sits in the lower-middle of that range, and does not add a high-season surcharge.
Should we book the venue or the planner first?
The venue. Dates on the caldera are the scarce thing — planners, photographers and celebrants are all bookable after you have a fixed date and place. Consultation with us costs nothing, so it is a cheap first move.
