Because it is the one setting where a surprise needs no excuse. A clifftop walk at a fixed hour raises questions; a dinner reservation answers them all — the outfit, the timing, the occasion. Your partner walks down to what looks like a beautifully booked table for two on a private terrace, and everything after that is stagecraft only you know about.

The terrace does the hiding for us. We host one party per evening, so there is no crowd to tip anyone off and no neighbouring table wondering why a photographer keeps drifting closer. How does the evening run?

You arrive in golden hour, while the light is still full. Welcome drinks first, then the opening plates from Chef Iosif of Lomvranos Restaurant, timed so that the gap between courses lands where the sun does. That gap is the classic moment — a walk to the rail "for the view", the terrace to yourselves, the sun on the water — and the question. We keep the champagne cold and out of sight until it has a reason to appear.

Then the evening changes shape. The remaining courses become an engagement dinner, dessert arrives under the first stars, and the photographs move from stolen to celebratory. Couples who want the full record add a golden-hour shoot straight after the yes, while the sky is still performing.

When during dinner should I propose?

Before the light goes. The classic slot is between courses, forty-five minutes to an hour before sunset — golden hour — so the question, the yes and the photographs all happen in the day's best glow.
