A vow renewal at AION is a private ceremony for a marriage that already exists — an anniversary, a promise remade, often with children and parents there. There is no paperwork and no legal step: just our caldera-side terrace in Fira, a sunset ceremony shaped around your family, and dinner by Chef Iosif afterwards.

Why renew your vows in Santorini?
Because the first wedding was for everyone else, and this one can be for you. Couples come to us at ten years, at twenty-five, after the year that tested everything, or simply because the honeymoon was here and the island has been calling since. A vow renewal has no rules to satisfy and nothing to prove — which is exactly what makes it worth doing well. You stand on a terrace above the caldera at the hour Santorini is famous for, and you say, with better information than you had the first time, that you would do it all again.
Bring the family this time
The best witnesses at a renewal are usually the people who did not exist at the wedding. Children hand over the rings they have been guarding all afternoon; parents who danced at the original get to sit in the front row of the sequel. The terrace holds up to 30 guests with chairs and umbrellas provided, and because we sit near sea level — an easy walk, the cable car, or a boat into the old port beside us — every generation from grandparent to toddler arrives without a battle against stairs.
What does a vow renewal ceremony look like?
Whatever your marriage has earned. There is no legal format to follow, so the ceremony works like our symbolic weddings: any script, any ritual, any officiant — a celebrant, a friend, your eldest child, or just the two of you reading letters you wrote on the plane. The arch with white curtains is there if you book the Obsidian package and want the full frame; the music system carries the song from your first dance, if you dare. Renewals can be two people quietly restating the terms, or a proper party — both fit this terrace.
Then dinner, as always
Every renewal we host ends the same way a wedding here does: at one long table with white cloths, candles lit, dinner by Chef Iosif of Lomvranos Restaurant arriving as the sun goes down. Pre-book meal and drinks packages or keep it à la carte — with children at the table, the kitchen happily cooks for small appetites and picky ones alike. Should you tell anyone it is happening?
Some couples plan the renewal together for months; others stage it as a surprise mid-holiday, one of them booking the terrace quietly while the other packs sunscreen. Both work beautifully here — the venue is private, so a surprise stays a surprise until the moment you turn the corner and see the chairs facing the water. Bring a photographer either way: the second yes deserves pictures as much as the first one did, and golden hour on this terrace does half the photographer's work.
Dates and rates
We host renewals all year, and anniversary dates are exactly why our pricing works the way it does: the rate is flat in every month, so marrying in June and renewing every June costs the same as any winter date — and rescheduling is free if life intervenes.
