What is Santorini actually like in winter?
Quieter than most visitors can imagine. The cruise ships stop, the sunset crowds disperse, and the caldera villages return to the people who live in them — bakeries, school runs, coffee that nobody is queueing for. The weather turns Greek-island winter: mild by northern standards, cooler and more changeable than the postcards, with bright still days scattered between windy and rainy ones. You cannot book a guaranteed sky in January. What you can book is an island wearing its own clothes, and photographs with nobody else in them.
